Event Name: Super Bowl Sunday Fun Run
Event Description: The Super Bowl Sunday Fun Run will be held Sunday February 5th, 2012 at 8:00 AM. The Fun Run of approximately 11 miles starts at the Ottawa YMCA, 201 E. Jackson Street, Ottawa, IL and ends at the Starved Rock Lodge via scenic IL Rt. 71 along the Illinois River. Restrooms wil be available at the YMCA prior to the start. Support vehicles will be available to pick up runners that do not want to run the whole course or deliver those who wish to run the latter part of the course. Refreshments, hot tub, pool and showers provided at the Lodge. No fees. No awards. Donations to SRRL are welcome. Limited transportation from Starved Rock Lodge to Ottawa YMCA available until 7:10 AM. Special commemorative JOHN HARBECK shirts will be available for a donation. Event Name: Delavan Panther Frostbite Classic Half Marathon
Event Description: The Delavan Panther Frostbite Classic is one of the state's oldest road races. The 13.1 mile road race has become an annual spring tradition in central Illinois, and has been run continuously for 36 years. The race begins near Delavan High School, 907 Locust St., Delavan, IL 61734 and follows a mostly flat (some say rolling) loop around a six mile loop (twice), and finishes back at the school. Event Name: Russell Hustle 5k Trail Run
Event Description: DeKalb County's First Trail Run in its premier Forest Preserve - Russell Woods. Winding through native growth timber on wide trails and single track as well as on prairie trail along the Kishwaukee River. Some trails are rustic and with steep inclines to test your mettle! And maybe some mud! There is also a 2k Run/Walk that travels through the woods on the main lane; flat and even, but still beautiful. A water stop is at the half way point of both races. The 5k start is at 9am with the 2k start at 10am. Russell Woods Forest Preserve is located just west of Genoa, IL on Illinois Route 72 (Higgins Road) located about 15 miles north of DeKalb, 20 miles SE of Rockford, 25 West of Elgin. The last tenth of a mile is downhill for a blazing finish! The event will start at 9:00 AM. Event Name: Lake Geode Challenge
Event Description: Lake Geode Challenge is an Olympic distance triathlon (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run) that takes place in Southeast Iowa at Geode State Park, 3333 Racine Avenue, Danville, IA 52623. The event begins with an out and back swim from the sandy beach of Lake Geode. Wet suits are allowed per USAT rules. The challenging 40k bike course will take participants on a scenic loop outside Geode State Park. The course features flat roads, rolling hills and a long climb through a quiet, rural countryside. One water station is available along the course. The 10k run is on good asphalt and concrete roads in beautiful Geode State Park. The course includes rolling to challenging hills. There is also a 3km Walk/Run at 7:55 am. The USATF Certified course (IL-02042-JW) winds through the southwesterly residential areas and parks of the City of DeKalb, IL. The course entails several short hills yet overall is considered flat and fast. Mile splits provided every mile.
